Cooling & Traditional Millet Drink

Ingredients

  • Millet Flakes (any): 1 cup (100 g approx)
  • Curd: ½ cup
  • Onion: As required (finely chopped)
  • Salt: As required

Water Ratio for Flakes

  • Thinai, Samai, Varagu, Kuthiraivalli (Small flakes) → 1 cup flakes : ¾ cup water
  • Kambu, Red Cholam & Traditional Rice (Large flakes) → 1 cup flakes : 1¼ cup water

Preparation Method

  1. Take 1 cup of millet flakes and grind coarsely (or use as it is).
  2. Add 1½ cups of hot water and soak for 10 minutes.
  3. Allow it to cool, then add curd or buttermilk.
  4. Adjust consistency by adding water as needed.
  5. Add chopped onion and salt. Mix well.
  6. Serve cool. Makes approximately 4 glasses of koozh.
