Ingredients

  • Millet Flakes (any): 1 cup (100 g approx)
  • Lemon: ½
  • Oil: 2 tsp
  • Cashew / Groundnut: As required
  • Mustard Seeds & Dals: ½ tsp
  • Onion: 1 (chopped)
  • Green Chilli: 4
  • Curry Leaves: As required
  • Salt: As required

Water Ratio for Flakes

  • Thinai, Samai, Varagu, Kuthiraivalli (Small flakes) → 1 cup flakes : ¾ cup water
  • Kambu, Red Cholam & Traditional Rice (Large flakes) → 1 cup flakes : 1¼ cup water

Preparation Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan and temper mustard seeds and dals.
  2. Add cashew/groundnut and sauté until golden.
  3. Add onion, green chilli, and curry leaves. Sauté well.
  4. Add lemon juice and salt. Mix gently.
  5. Add millet flakes and sprinkle water as per the ratio.
  6. Cover and cook on low flame for 3 minutes (small flakes) or 5 minutes (large flakes).
  7. Mix well and serve hot.
